This is the place to go if you want to avoid the Prado crowds while looking at works by Goya, Zurbáran, Murillo and now John Martin. Within the building itself is the Instituto de Calcografia where many other prints are available. It is open to the public in general (non-groups) with FREE entry all the year (except August) : Wednesday to 17:00 h. July and September : Wednesday to 11:00 h.

Away from the more popular Guggenheim, this museum's impressive collection spans art from the 12th to 20th century. Highlights are some excellent Flemish works from between the 15th and 17th centuries. There are also works by El Greco, Goya, Gauguin, Francis Bacon, Picasso and Velasquez. To the rear of the building is a sculpture garden. Opening Times are Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 h to 20:00 h. Sundays and public holidays: 10:00 h to 14:00 h. Closed Mondays. Closed on 25th December and 1st January.
